Objective: To compare aberrations of patients in whom different material and designed intraocular lenses (IOLs) were implanted in order to improve optical designs of IOLs with better retinal image quality. Methods: 101 patients (105eyes) were selected randomly who accepted phacoemulsification and were implanted IOLs. Any other eye disease and whole body disease have been excluded. They were divided into four groups according to different IOL. In group A, the hydrophobic acrylic IOL(single-piece Acrysof SA60AT)were implanted into 32 eyes of 32 patients; in group B ,the hydrophilic acrylic IOL ( single-piece Isotechnics HP25B)were implanted into 38 eyes of 38 patients; in group C, the hydrophobic acrylic IOL (three-piece Sensar AR40e) were implanted into 20 eyes of 20 patients; in group D, the hydrophobic acrylic IOL(three-piece Acrysof MA60MA)were implanted into 15 eyes of 15 patients.4(8 eyes)patients got operations in both eyes and two types IOLs were implanted separately to contrast with themselves. The aberrations of all these patients after surgery were checked and analyzed with wavelight analyzer. Results: 1) For 4.0mm and 5.0mm pupil, the average RMSh values were significantly different between group B and C (P<0.05). For 6mm and 7mm pupil, the average RMSh values were no significantly different between group B and C (P>0.05). For 4.0mm,5.0mm,6mm and 7mm pupil, the average RMSh values were no significantly different between group A and group B,group A and group C,group C and group D,group... |
