Objective To compare visual function in patients who had cataract surgery and implantation of different types of intraocular lenses(IOL). Methods All 70eyes of 59 patients underwent phacoemulsification and different types of IOLs implantation. The eyes were divided into 3 groups according to the type of IOL(material).30 eyes received a UY-55SA(PMMA,yellow),20 eyes received a VA-60BB(acrysof) and 20 eyes received a 1CU( accomodationable). The results of best corrected far vision .astigmatism and parameters of PSF and MTF acquired through OQAS one month after surgery were analyzed. A fourth group of 20 eyes of 13 age-matched patients with normal crystaline lenses had the same examination. Results There were no significant differences in best corrected far vision and parameters of PSF and MTF between the 3 IOL groups or between the UY-55SA (PMMA,yellow) group and age-matched normal crystaline lenses (P>0.05). However, there were significant difference between the normal crystaline lenses and other two groups (P<0.05) . Conclusions There were no significant difference in vision quality between the three IOL groups. The normal crystaline lenses were superior to the VA-60BB and 1CU groups in vision quality, however, the vision quality between the UY-55SA(PMMA,yellow) groups and normal crystaline lenses is similar. The exact mechanism is uncertain. OQAS can be used to assess the image quality of ocular optic system and the result is objective and quantitive. |
