Objective: To provide preventive means of controlling the adverse effect of the blood lead level (BPb) on children's development, BPb of children in Dalian was investigated and the related risk factors were identified. Methods: 1,000 preschool children from the health center for women and children(0-2 years old) or some kindergartens(2~6 years old) in Dalian were investigated. Based on BPb level, three groups were divided as lead poison group(≥100μg/L) with 30 children , critical BPb level group(80~100μg/L) with 55 children and control group(≤80μg/L). In the first two groups, clustering-layered sampling method was adopted. In the third group, randomized sampling method was adopted and 88 children were involved. Physical examination such as height, weight, head circumference and hemoglobin level were carried out. The questionnaires about risk factors affecting BPb were completed. Results: The number of children with BPb> 100μg/L took up 3.00 % (300/1000). There was no significant difference in BPb between different sex and different age. There was no significant difference in height, weight or head circumference among three groups. There was no significant difference in blood hemoglobin level, but there was significant difference in blood cadmium levelAmong family factors, the education level of father or mother , father's career have significant difference; Among behavior factors , the habit of biting pencil has significant difference; Among diet factors , the...
