Background and ObjectiveAge-related cataract (ARC) is a common disease in senile people and is the first reason leading to blindness. But the pathogenesis of ARC isn't clear at present, and so the research about this is much more important.Traditionally it is though that there are a lot of enzyme in LEC which can protect the lens from oxidized damage, have important role in lens growth, differentiation and repair, balance inner environment and keep transparent of human lens. But because some unknown reasons, such as super oxide, exposing to ultraviolet, high calcium, which can impair its normal structure and function, the lens will become opaque. In recent, apoptosis is a hot topic with the development of molecular biology. Many apoptosis cells in LEC of age-related cataract have been found by electronic microscope and immunochemistry, but in transparence lens, there isn't nearly any apoptosis cell. At the same time, apoptosis cells of rat lens and cortical cataract were induced with hydrogen peroxide. But various age-related cataracts are absolutely different in clinical feature and pathological process, and the relationship between the types of cataract and the rate of apoptosis cells in LEC has not been reported. In recent year, scientists generally... |
