| Objective: To investigate the changes of plasma Urotensin Ⅱ (UⅡ) levels with the treatment in patients wi th Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and renal insufficiency, and to study the pathophysiological roles of UⅡ in these diseases. Methods: Patients were divided into three groups .Group A were T2DM patients with normal renal function , Group B were T2DM patients with renal insufficiency uremia , and Group C were chronic renal insufficiency uremia patients without diabetes mellitus .The plasma UⅡ levels were compared among patient groups and control group , which matched with age and sexuality. They were also compared before and after Insulin treatment in Group A, before and after hemodialysis treatment in Group B and Group C. Peripheral venous blood was collected in EDTA from normal healthy controls and patients, the blood was then centrifuged and plasma was collected, UII levels in plasmas were measured by radio immuneoassay, and both of plasma FBS, Scr, CHO and TG were determined by enzymatic methods. The 13. 0 SPSS statistics software package was used for statistical analysis. Data were expressed as mean± SD, differences were assessed with the student' s t test ,values of p<0.05 were considered significant .Results: The mean plasma UⅡ level was 5.52 ± 0.93 pg/ml in control group, and was 7.46±1.21 pg/ml , 7.73±0.49 pg/ml, 8. 47±1.55 pg/ml in patients Group A , Group B and Group C respectively, (p<0.05) . There were no significant differences between plasma UⅡ levels before and after the Insulin treatment in Group A, (p>0.05) . There were no significant differences between plasma UⅡ levels before and after the hemodialysis... |
