ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the expression of syndecan-1 and E-cadherin in B-cell NHL(non-Hodgkin lymphoma) and their relationship with stage, patholotic grade, histological classification at the level of protein. Furthermore to investigate the correlation of syndecan-1 and E-cadherin.Methods52 patients with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma who received lymphnode biopsy between January 1998 and January 2005 in Shandong provincial Qianfoshan Hospital were reviewed for study. The patient average age was 64.3 years(ranged from 74 to 47 years). SLL/CLL(chronic lymphoid leukemia)was 20 cases; FL(follicular lymphoma) was 8 cases; DLBCL (diffused large B-cell lymphoma) was 24 cases. Stage was as followed according to Ann Arbor staging system: I10, II 18, III 16, IV 12.While 6 patients (median age 36, range from 24 52 years) who underwent lymphnode biopsy were suitable for control group. All the patients neither took radiotherapy or chemotherapy before surgery. Tissue specimens were fixed in formalin and embedded in paraffin according standard procedure and 4 μ m-thick section to detect the expressions of syndecan-1 and E-cadherin in B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma and normal lymphnode. Statistical analysis utilizing chi-square test was performed to determine significance among groups. Spearman's correlation test was used to investigate the relationship between syndecan-1 and E-cadherin expression.Results...
