| OBJECTIVEBy assessing the Plasma Total Homocysteine(Hcy) levels in impaired glucose tolerance(IGT) and type 2 Diabetes mellitus(T2DM) patients, to investigate the changes of Hcy. Using neck artery ultrasound to measure carotid artery internal media thickness (IMT), to evaluate the degree of atherosclerosis and the relationship of Hcy and atherosclerosis in IGT and T2DM patients. Observing the condition of metabolic disturbance in IGT and T2DM patients, to evaluate the relationship of Hcy and metabolic syndrome (MS), and to investigate the changes of Hcy with the increasing of component numbers of MS. METHODSThrough OGTT (75g glucose) examination, subjects are divided into three groups: impaired glucose tolerance group of 31 persons, type 2 Diabetes mellitus group of 40 persons, and normal control group of 33 persons. Fasting blood and urine of the previous night after fasting for at least 10 hours were collected from every testee. The blood was used to measure Plasma Total Homocysteine, blood glucose, blood fat, HbAlc, insulin, Crea. The urine was used to measure UAER. At the same time, give OGTT examination to ever object.
