| OBJECTIVE Lymphatic metastasis is one of common metastatic paths of the malignant human tumors, and is the major death cause of the patients suffering from the malignant tumor. In the development of papillary thyroid ,lymphatic metastasis is very common, and the spread of papillary thyroid carcinoma has relationship with many factors. The state of cervical lymph node is one of the independent prognosis factors which influence the patient's survival, and the spread of lymph node is still the main criterion to evaluate prognosis and work out the treatment programme. Owing to the improvement of experimental technique ,it can be realized to differentiate microlymphtic vessel from blood microvessel in recent years. Therefore, it is necessary to study lymphtic microvessel of papillary thyroid carcinoma to find the relationship between lymphtic microvessel density and papillary thyroid carcinoma's clinical and pathological features, which can provide evidence of evaluating prognosis and clinical therapy.METHODS 61 cases of papillary thyroid carcinomas and 14 cases of thyroid adenimas and 10 cases normal thyroid tissue were studied. Intratumoral microvessels were identified by immunohistochemical staining in formalin-fixed , paraffin-embedded sections with anti- LYVE-1 polyclonal antibody, and were counted with microscope at X 200 magnification.Spss12.0 was used to stastatic the results.RESULTS In papillary thyroid carcinoma , lymphtic microvessel density in lymph node metastasis groups was significantly higher than no lymph node metastasis groups(t=7.948, P<0.01).Lymphtic microvessel density in papillary thyroid carcinoma was significantly higher than thyroid adenimas(t=10.028, P<0.01) and normal thyroid tissue(t=10.323, P<0.01), but between thyroid adenimas and normal thyroid tissue was no significant difference(t=0.091,P=0.928). It is not significantly different with respect to patient's age , sex (t=0.943, P=0.350 ; t=1.080, P=0.284). LMVD was... |
