| Objective: To investigate the effect of electro-acupuncture intensity in varying degrees on neuron damage after focal cerebral ischemia in rats and make a preliminary probe into the correlation between the stimulating intensity and effect of electro-acupuncture. Methods: The middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) was made by nylon thread embolus in rats .The pathological sign and morphological changes of nerve cells in ischemic region in MCAO rats during recovery stage were studied, also SOD and MDA in serum as well as the expression of Bcl-2, Bax and HSP70 . Results: The study showed that electro-acupuncture could promote the recovery of nervous pathological sign. SOD was significantly heightened one hand but the content of MDA was lowered on the other; the expression of Bcl-2 and HSP70 was up regulated while that of Bax was down regulated. In the cerebral tissue of MCAO rats, Electro-acupuncture stimulating intensity interrelated to recovery of nervous pathological sign, variation of SOD and MDA, morphological changes of nerve cells, expression of Bcl-2, Bax and HSP70. Conclusions: The research proved that electro- acupuncture could lessen ischemic harm to cerebral tissue and the effect was closely related to the applied stimulating intensity during recovery of cerebral ischemia in MCAO rats. |
