| Background: Leg ulcers are frequently treated diseases in the departments of dermatology and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) surgery that can be contributed to various etiological factors, among which the vascular diseases caused leg ulcers occupy more than 70 per cent, including three types of varicose ulcer, arterial ulcer and vasculitis ulcer; more than 10 kinds of dematological diseases. Moreover, there are nervous ulcer, physical ulcer as well as infectious ulcer and hematopathical ulcer, ect. The clinical therapies for them are time consuming and refractory, and there is a lack of effective therapy for them.At present, the domestic reports about the therapies for leg ulcers in the field of western medicine are focused on insulin, prostaglandin, epidermal growth factor, conjugated protein, fructose 1,6-bisphosphate, basic fibroblast growth factor, hyaluronic acid, sodium ferulate, ect. Nowadays, the drugs preparation of TCM has gained development and their mechanism of therapeutic efficacy has been expatiated through results of modern scientific research. However, clinical researches in line with criteria, researches on the screening of heal promoting drug and further studies on the mechanism of heal promotion are not enough.
