Objective Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease and its etio-pathogenesis is still unknown. Immunnological, genetical, hormones and environmental factors are subjected to be associated with SLE. Many cell factors participated in SLE outbreak: Such as the IL-6, IL-10, TNF, MCP-1, etc.To investigate the association between Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and the polymorphism of MCP-1 promoter in Chinese Han patients from Yunnan province, 61 patients with SLE and 65 matched controls were genetyped. Methods SLE was diagnosed as 1997 ARA modified criteria. SLE patient's activity was evaluated by SLEDAI. Biochemical agents and immunological factor were tested using exited methods. Genotypes of MCP-1 promoter were determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and analysed by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) in 62 patients with SLE (29 are SLE with LN, 33 are SLE with no LN) and 65 normal controls, then compared the difference between each group. A pair of primers were composed by Yingjun Biotechnology Co, Ltd. Furthermore, we studied on the correlations between the polymorphism distribution of MCP-1 and the patients with Lupus Nephritis. Results The A/G genotype was more common in each group; The frequencies of A\G was no significant difference among three groups. Conclusion These results suggest that MCP-1 and the polymorphism in the MCP-1 promoter gene were no association with SLE or LN.
