| This study included 419 patients with cleft palate(CP) and 54 patients with cleft lip(CL) treated in CLP Department , College of Stomatology , SCU ,from 2004 to 2006. In the study, The middle ear function and hearing level were compared between CP and CL patients. The relationships between age, sex, CP type, palatoplasty and middle ear function were analyzed. Indication for puncturing, the effect of grommet insertion on middle ear function and hearing level and the sequelae caused by it were explored. Our findings:1. The middle ear function and hearing level were both worse in patients with CP than those with CL.2. There was a significant relativity between middle ear function and hearing level. Patients with middle ear dysfunction always had hearing loss.3. With age increasing, the middle ear function of patients with CP improved on the whole, however, it became worse in 8 to 15-year group .4. The middle ear dysfunction of half year old patients with CP won't become relieved in one to two years. |
