Aim: To investigate the distribution of Asn291Ser and Lys312insC of the lipoprotein lipase in hypertriglyceridemic subjects with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus in Chinese population in Chengdu.Mthods: 119 type 2 diabetic mellitus patients whose fasting triglyceride (TG) levels were lower than 1.7mmol/l were recruited; and 113 hypertriglyceridemic (HTG) patients without type 2 diabetes mellitus were also recruited, their fast triglyceride levels exceeded 3.0mmol/l and their fast plasm glucose were lower than 5.6mmol/l ,the HbA1c were lower than 6.2%. All the patients were screened for sequence changes in the LPL exon 6 by PCR-SSCP and direct DNA sequencing. Besed on the previous study of screening Asn291Ser and Lys312insC in hypertriglyceridemic subjects of type 2 diabetes pedigrees, the distribution of the two mutations were analysised.Result: No mutation was detected among the 232 patients (normal TG with T2DM and HTG without T2DM).The four groups (HTG with T2DM pedigrees, normal TG with T2DM, HTG without T2DM and NC) were compared by us by X~2 test. There is significant statistic difference between the HTG with T2DM and normal TG with T2DM (P=0.008), and there is also...
