In this paper,the chemical compositions andpharmacological activities of leaves of Corylusheterophylla Fish.ex Bess.were studied.According to the references,a few compoundswere isolated and identified as so far,such assteroid, triterpenoid, and so on.Not yet reportedabout the chemical constituents from the leavesof Corylus heterophylla ,modern pharmacyologicalstudies showed that the herb had the effects ofbenefiting vital energy,promoting appetite andimproving eyesight.In order to find out more newchemical constituents furtherly in the leaves ofCorylus heterophylla Fish.ex Bess. and developthe accurate pharmacological activites,our groupgave a comprehensive researches.The research met-hods and results as follow:Firstly,the dried leaves of Corylus heterop-hylla Fish.ex Bess.,collected in Mt.Changbai,extracted with 85% alcohol.Secondly, the alcoholsolution were evaporated with distillation methodat normal pressure in order to be concentrated.Thirdly,the concentrated solution was dissolvedwith water.Then,the water solution was extractedwith petroleum ether,chloroform,acetic ether andn-butyl alcohol respectively at room temperature.Finally,ten compounds were obtained from threeextracted parts,which were dealt with silica gelchromatogramphy by using several kinds of solv-ent systems,recrystallizing and HPLC repeatly.Among of them,six compounds′structures wereestablished and identified on the basis of chem-ical and spectroscopic evidence(1HNMR,13CNMR).they are β-Sitosterol(Ⅰ),2,4,4'-trihydroxychalcone(Ⅱ),7,22-dien-3-ergosterol(Ⅲ),ethylglucopyranoside(Ⅳ),4′-hydroxy dihydroflavonoside-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(Ⅴ),α-D-(6-O-sinapoyl)-glucopyranosyl-β-D-(3-O-sinapoyl)-fructofuranose(Ⅵ).They are all separated in this plant firstly.The pharmacological activities of the extractionwere studied.The result showed that the extraction ofleaves of Corylus heterophylla Fish.ex Bess.hadthe effects of Matrix Metalloproteinase Inhibi-tors.
