PurposeThe research is to assess the value of 16-slice spiral CT perfusion imaging by comparatively analyzing results from perfusion imaging with histological/cytological result and expression of CD34 in diagnosing the solitary nodule or mass in lung. The feasibility on assessing pulmonary tumor angiogenesis in vivo by multi-slice spiral CT perfusion imaging is also discussed.Materials and methods(1) Sixty-six patients (48 men, 18 women; mean age, 53.0 years±12.0[SD]; age range, 28–79 years; mean size of the lesions, 3.0 cm±1.2 [SD]; size range, 1.5 - 6.0 cm.) with solitary nodule or mass in lung who were detected by radiographing or plain CT scanning, were chosen to perform 16-slice spiral CT perfusion scanning. Among them, 26 performed fiberoptic bronchoscopy before CT perfusion scanning, 45 performed CT-guided percutaneous pulmonary biopsy after CT perfusion scanning instantly and 15 performed pulmonary lobectomy.(2) All patients first underwent unenhanced CT scanning including either 2.5- or 5-mm-thick transverse sections through the lesion with GE Light-Speed 16 CT scanner. Then four adjacent sections locating the center of the lesion were chosen to be the target sections and CT perfusion scanning was performed by the"Toggling-Table"technology. For all scanning, following parameters: 120 KV, 180~220 mA, cine full, Iohexol (350 mg I/ ml) 45 ml, infusion rate of 5ml /sec, scanning started at 4 seconds after the beginning of injection and acquisition time of 40 seconds were used.(3) Data analysis was performed with body tumor protocol of CT Perfusion 3 (the...
