| In recent years, the prevalence of myopia is increasing in many parts of the world, especially in Asia. Therefore finding the basic cause of myopia, and making a radical therapy are in urgent need. The results of recent research have showed both genetic and environmental factors contribute to the development of myopia. During the early development phase after the animal was born, if the vision-dependent emmetropilization feed-back by form deprivation it was disturbed, would cause the axial length of eye prolong and coming into being myopia, that is form deprivation myopia(FDM). The local retina controls theory argues that FDM is the result of the local retinal message factors regulate and control the growth of the sclera fibroblast cells, leading remodification of the sclera, and prolongation of the axial length.Recent studies demonstrated that, cholinergic receptor antagonist atropine, pirenzepine can effectively prevent the development of myopia, but the exact mechanisms is unknown. In the study of atropine in 2000, Schwahn have found atropine plays an important role in adjusting DA concentration in retina. They brought out the idea that atropine may block the development of myopia through increasing DA releasing from the retina because in both in vivo and in vitro studies , atropine can increase DA concentration in out cellular environment. Whether pirenzepine can also increase the release of DA is still unknown. In the current studies, we build the FDM... |
