ObjectiveTo determine the association between the human SLC6A4 gene promoter polymorphism and variable number of tandem repeat polymorphism in the promoter region of the MAOA gene (MAOA-VNTR) and aggression with antisocial personality disorder(APD) in the Han Chinese population.Methods90 Han Chinese males with APD aggression and 140 controls were examined, all subjects were evaluated by PDQ-4,then a diagnosis was made based on the DSM-â…£ classifications. The DNA fragments of SLC6A4 promoter region and MAOA-VNTR were all measured using PCR assay, and verified by sequencing. Both allele frequencies and genotype frequencies in two groups were compared.ResultsThe PCR products included three allele of SLC6A4 promoter region: L,S and XL, which composed four genotype: LL,LS,SS and XLL. The S allele frequence and SS genotype frequence in the APD were 61.8% and 37.08% respectively, which demonstrated a significant difference when compared with controls (P<0.005). The PCR products included four alleles of MAOA...
