Sympatho-excitation is a hallmark of the chronic heart failure (CHF) and the degree of sympatho-excitation is prognostic for survival in the CHF state. The cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex (CSAR), which is enhanced in the CHF state, contributes to an increase in sympathetic outflow in the CHF state. Previous studies suggested the abnormal action of Ang â…¡ and AT1 receptor in the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) played an important part in the enhanced CSAR in CHF. However, the mechanism responsible for the enhancement of the CSAR induced by Ang â…¡ in the PVN is not well understood. In present study, we investigated the role of ROS in the regulatory effect of Ang â…¡ on the CSAR and further elucidated the central mechanism responsible for modulation of the CSAR. It will lay a foundation in finding new drugs for management of CHF.The study was carried out on the anesthetized rats with sinoaortic denervation and cervical vagotomy. Renal sympathetic nerve activity (RSNA), mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) were recorded. The CSAR was evaluated by the RSNA response to epicardial...
