Objective: The study aimed to clarify the utility of "C-choline PET-CT for prostate cancer. PET-CT were performed for evaluating prostate diseases by comparison with magnetic resonance (MR) imaging combined with proton MR spectroscopy and pathologic results. Methods: A total of 34 consecutive patients were devided as follows:â‘ Prostate cancer group: 16 cases (4 cases with well-differentiated adenocarcinoma, 9 cases with moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma, 3 cases with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma), age range 55-90 years, mean age 68.2 years, serum SPA level ranged 9.0-135ng/ml, mean level 105.3ng/ml. â‘¡Benign prostate disease group: 14 cases with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) (including 5 cases with prostatitis), 1 cases with high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia(HGPIN), age range 53-85 years, mean age 69.4 years, serum PSA level ranged 0.06-13.28 ng/ml, mean level 4.65ng/ml. â‘¢Detection of recurrent prostate cancer after definitive therapy: 3 cases with moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma, two of three with serum PSA level 0.06ng/ml, the other one with serum PSA level 125ng/ml. 31 preoperated patients were ferformed 11C-choline PET-CT imaging, MRI and MRS being performd a week ago. The group of one and three performed with 99mTc ECT and 18F-FDG PET-CT imaging within three days as well. The images were reviewed visually and semiquantitatively by using maximum standardised uptake value(SUVmax) and the mean value of SUV(SUVmean) at the site of prostate diseases. The results of 11C-choline PET-CT, MRI and MRS were compared to pathologic results which were acquired by radical prostatectomy or biopsies specimens.Descriptive statistics included sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predicitive value of PET-CT,...
