Rhubarb is a very famous Traditional Chinese Medicine recorded first in "Shennong Bencao Jing". Rhubarb is the dried rhizome and radix from three species, Rheum palmatum L. , Rheum tanguticum Maxim, ex Balf. or Rheum officinale Baill. , Polygonaceae family. This thesis makes sure that the breeds of original plants used in ancient and modern are accordant and mainly are Rheum palmatum L. and Rheum tanguticum Maxim, ex Balf. . They are used mostly in eastern of Qinhai, southern of Gansu and eastern of Xizang, they are called as" the North Rhubarb". The South Rhubarb is Rheum officinale Baill., the sepecies is found in Sichuan, Yunnan, Hubei and Sanxi provinces.Rhubarb used frequently for its various pharmacological actions such as purgation, antifungal and antitumor. Rhubarb is used as an important Chinese herb. At the same time Rhubarb is one of the most comprehensive natural medicines in the world and it's in great demand. Rhubarb dispensing granule has stable efficacy and is convenient to take, especially in comparison with the traditional herbal infusion."Study on the Quality Standard of Rhubarb Dispensing Granule" is the national 863 scientific and technological project. The research on rhubarb establish the quality standard of rhubarb preparation products and final products, can get some information from the experimental data.According to standard method of rhubarb from the Chinese Pharmacopoeia(2005), determine and compare the contents of description, impurity, TLC, water, total ash, acid insoluble ash, heavy metals, arsenic salts, extractives, free anthraquinones about preparation products of raw, wine-broil, Rheum palmatum steamd with wine are in kinds of pharmaceutical factory. According to standard method of granule from the Chinese Pharmacopoeia(2005), determine the contents of description, water, dissolubility, content uniformity, microbes, heavy metals, arsenic salts, hazardous substances(lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury, copper)and residual pesticides about dispensing granule of raw, wine-broil, Rheum palmatum steamd with wine. Study on the analytical methods with TLC and quantitative determination. A HPLC method is used to establish a fingerprint spectrum for rhubarb dispensing granule. The quality standard of rhubarb preparation product and final product established by experimental data.
