The Protective Effect And Mechanism Of EBP On Experimental Liver Injury

EBP is the active extract of bupleurum polyclonum extracted by supercritical fluid extraction. The protective effects of bupleurum polyclonum(BP) on CCl₄-induced or APAP- induced acute liver injury and CCl₄ complex factors-induced chronic liver injury were studied, effects of BP on immunological function, liver regeneration and bile secretion were also observed in this paper, and the mechanism of action was preliminarily studied.The results showed the activities of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST) were significantly increased in CCl₄-induced or APAP-induced acute liver injury mice pretreated with EBP (8,4,2g/kgiv), and the liver function of acute liver injury rats treated with CCl₄ was improved. Those results indicated that EBP has the protective effects to the CCl₄-induced or APAP- induced acute liver injury. But EBP couldn't protect the acute liver injury induced by D-GalN. Pretreatment with EBP could decreased the activities of ALT, AST in serum of chronic liver injury rats induced by CCl₄ complex factors, shortened coagulation time. Pathological photos showed that EBP could decrease the pathologic lesion of liver cell such as degeneration and necrosis, which indicated that EBP has definite protective effects to liver fibrosis rats.
