Objectives: To improve the knowledge of HIV/AIDS among male clients of female sexual workers(FSW), decrease or avoid their unsafe sex activity, prevent transmission of HIV/AIDS, and to explore an efficient HIV/AIDS related behavioral intervention model for male clients of FSW in China at the moment.Methods: Carrying out comprehensive interventions for nine months, such as interventions in entertainment establishments, floating or communitywide or mass media publicizing in Leshan downtown district,, and investigating 398 subjects by several approaches, and then comparing the outcomes with control community in Panzhihua city to evaluate the intervention impact. 23 male clients of FSWs and 10 entertainment-establishment employers were interviewed in sociological qualitative study, for understanding behavioral characteristics of target population and their suggestions about intervention processes.Results: After the interventions, the knowledge of HIV/ADDS and proportion of safe sex of target population improve greatly than before, the entirely correct proportion of knowledge of HIV/AIDS has changed from 45.0% to 68.3%, the every time condom use rate in latest one year has changed from 28.0% to 39.7%, the condom use rate in last time sex has changed from 61.6% to 73.1%, which is much higher distinctively than 58.3% in control community. At the same time, the surveillance for FSWs also indicates that the condom use rate in commercial sex trade has been increased greatly.
