| Objective: To observe the difference in arterial compliance between elderly patients with essential hypertension and people with normal blood pressure using vascular echo-tracking, and to access the effect of calcium-antagonist on arterial compliance of elderly patients with essential hypertension. Methods: 22 elderly patients who measured up the diagnostic criterion of WHO/ISH for essential hypertension were selected as trial group with the average age of 64.32±2.77 years old. 20 healthy elderly persons with normal blood pressure were selected as control group with the average age of 65.35 ±3.50 years old. None of the objects had metabolic disturbance of blood sugar and lipid and complications of cardiovascular and cerebral diseases. There was no significant difference in age, sex and so on. Before-after study in the trial group and interclass contrast were applied. The patients in the trial group were given calcium-antagonist to keep blood pressure below 140/90 mmHg, and the patients in the control group no drugs. The intimal media thickness (IMT) of carotid, arterial stiffness parameter (β), pulse wave velocity(PWV-β),augmentation index(AI),pressure-strain elsatic modulus(Ep), and arterial compliance(AC) of the patients in the trial group before and after the trial and the people in the control group were gained using ALOKA SSD-ALPHA10 ultrasonograph and echo-tracking technique. Then the difference in SBP, DBP, PP, IMT, β,PWV-β,AI,Ep and AC between the two... |
