Objectives: To observe the impact factors associated with the level of plasma fibrinogen in the acute stage of stoke. To explore whether plasma fibrinogen in acute stage of stroke is an independent prognostic factor of stroke.Materials and method: 1. From Mar.1, 2004 to Mar.1, 2006, the consecutive cases of stroke in the neurological wards of the West China Hospital, Sichuan University were prospectively registered. The patients within 24 hours at the first onset of stroke or the self-care patients who used to have a stroke were included in the study. We measured plasma fibrinogen on admission or the next morning and obtained the other clinical datas associated with the prognosis of stroke routinely, and then followed up the outcome at the end of 1st, 3rd, 6th and 12th month after the onset of stroke. The outcome was death, disability and stroke recurrence. 2. According to the higher limit of normal reference of the level of plasma fibrinogen, we defined plasma fibrinogen>4.00g/L as the elevated level. Univariate and...
