Objective: The aims of the study were to determine: whether there were any associations between polymorphism in the untranslated region of DJ-1 gene and parkinson's disease; whether there were small basic radical deletions or point mutations of the DJ-1 in patients with early-onset age and in family PD from Sichuan province.Materials and methods: 1. the association analyses between PD and polymorphism of DJ-1 were performed in a Sichuan Han population case-control series using polymerase chain reaction, restriction fragment length polymorphism. We analysed the known g.l68-185del polymorphism and SNP405 site.2. DJ-1 mutations were detected by using Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and denaturing high performance liquid chromatography(dHPLC) in early-onset PD and family Parkinsonism. Results: 1.We analysed the above sites including 192 PD patients and 198 unrelated subjects with age, gender and ethnicity distribution similar to the cases. In g.168-185del site, we found 2 cases and 1 control with Del/Ins...
