Backgroud and Objectives:Ulcerative Colitis (UC) which is a chronic, idiopathicinflammatory disorder of the rectum and colon is characterized by relapsing course. It is essential for the clinical management and therapeutic assessment to determine disease activity. Although there are varieties of indicators of disease activity for UC, their sensitivities and specificities are not satisfactory. Therefore, a indicator of disease activity with high sensitivity and specificity is required in clinical. The objectives of this investigation are measuring neutrophil-derived proteins : lactoferrin and calrotectin in feces and in colon mucosa of UC and observing the relationship with the disease activity, and also comparing them with clinical commonly used markers: white blood cell count(WBC), c-reactive protein(CRP), erythrocyte...
