Experimental Studies On Effect Of Artesunate Against Schistosoma Japonicum

Schistosomiasis is one of great infectious disease which jeopardize seriously human health and effect social economic development. Chemotherapy is one of main methods for interrupting the transimission of schistosomiasis. Artesunate invented by Chinese scientist is a novel drug against Schistosoma. In the paper, the susceptibility of Schistosoma japonicum in different developed stages to artesunate in vivo and in vitro, the effect of artesunate on T lymphocyte subset in infected mice and the effects of chemotherapy with of artresunate combining with praziquantel against Schistosoma japonicum in mice have been observed, which provide experimental basis for the future studies on effect of artesunate against Schistosoma and making rational scheme for chemotherapy.1 In vivo susceptibility of Schistosoma japonicum in different developed stages to artesunate.Mice infected with quantitative cercariae of Schistosoma japonicum were orally administered with artesunate at a single dose of 500 mg/kg at 2h, 1, 3, 7, 12, 14, 16, 25, 35d and 42d following infection respectively.
