Research For The Changes Of Lens Epithelial Cell Of The Special Cataract Of The Young

Objective: To research the ultra structural changes and difference of the lens epithelial cell density and detect the relationship between the variations and the mechanism for the special cataract of the young.Method: All the cases came from the ophthalmology department of the second affiliated hospital of Dalian Medical University. Examination group:23 cases the young cataract patients' lens anterior capsule; contrast group:11 cases ( 8 cases, lens anterior capsule of congenital lens dislocation; 3 cases, lens anterior capsule of choroidal melanoma patients). Observe the ultra structural changes by transmission electron microscope, light microscope and difference of lens epithelial cell density by the computer imagine analysis system.Result: 1) transmission electron microscope: in Examination group: most lens epithelial cells had different heights and irregular shapes, cells necrosis were generally viewed, the ultra structural were not clear, the gaps between cells were enlarges. Early apoptosis cells were visualized as well. In the other group, the epithelial cells were round shape, the ultra structure were normal, the gaps between cells were uniform. 2) light microscope: in examination group: the number of cells was (5-7) / HPF, the gaps between cells were not uniform, the limits of cells were not explicit, cytoplasm were hardly to distinguished. In the other group, the number of cells was ( 12-14 ) / HPF, the gaps between cells were uniform, the cell nucleuses were bigger than those of the examination group. 3) the density of the epithelial cells: the examination group: 3730±320, the control group: 4367±410 ( P < 0.01 ) .Conclusion: That the ultra structural changes and the number of theepithelial cells increase were possibly reasons for the young cataract.
