Background and objective: Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptors (PPARs) is a kind of ligand-dependent nuclear factor, which belongs to type II nuclear receptor super family. PPARs can be divided into three subtypes PPAR-α, PPAR-β and PPAR-γ. PPAR-γ can have the biology effect of regulating the expression of various target genes after being bind with specific medical or physiological ligand and activated. Among them the anti-diabetic drugs Thiazolidinediones(TZDs) is the highly elective medical ligand of PPAR-γ. The recent research showed that giving TZDs and activating the PPAR-γ path can inhibit the growth of various tumor cells and induce its apoptosis. This paper investigated into the inhibition effect of PPAR- y agonist Pioglitazone on the growth of hepatocarcinoma cells SMMC7721 and its relation to apoptosis and apoptosis modulin Caspase-3, Fas-Ligand and discussed the anti-hepatocarcinoma effect of PPAR- γ agonist and the possible mechanism of it. Method: Detecting the effect of Pioglitazone of different...
