Objective : To study the change of low-intensity anti-coagulation and try to figure out the appropriate therapy strategy after the mechanical valve replacement in Yunnan. Methods : The 89 artificial mechanical valve replacement patients who came to the hospital from September (2004) to June (2006) were divided to two groups. The patients of A group were treated with traditional anticoagulation therapy strategy, and the patients of B group were treated with low intensity anticoagulation therapy strategy. Furthermore, The patients of B group were divided to there groups, aortic valve replacement group, mitral valve replacement group and double valve replacement group. All the patients were checked with PT, INR, bleeding and thromboembolic events , echocardiography review findings after 3 months, 6 months and 9 months separately. The data were analyzed by statistics. Results : The patients who were treated with low intensity anticoagulation therapy strategy decrease the incidence of thrombosis; The patients who were treated with aortic valve replacement showed a lower intensity of anti-coagulation.Conclusions : We recommend the following ranges of the intensity of anticoagulation after the mechanical valve replacement in Yunnan: INR1.4~2.1 for the all mechanical valve replacement patients; INR1. 4~1.8 for the aortic valve replacement patients; INR1.8~2.1 for the double valve replacement or mitral valve replacement patients.
