Purpose: ulcerative colitis(UC) is a inflammatory bowel diseasewithout a certain causation. During the 70s-80s of 20th century, the casereport have been increasing in our country, and we have a trend ofincessant increasing. From some literature can we summarize , to theaspect Chinese medicine, the rule of syndrome differentiation about twostates in ulcerative colitis have their own characteristic. Our researchis base on the recognition diagnostic standard and the standard ofsyndrome differentiation and diagnosis in Chinese medicine, through theclinical survey questionnaire and data computing, we could educe the ruleof rule of syndromedifferentiation about active state and catabatic statein ulcerative colitis, and we could provide a reference for the treatmentof this disease. Methods: base on the literature research and clinical observation inadvance, combing with the diagnostic standard and clinical practice, asurvey questionnaire of syndromes in Chinese medicine for UC had been setup. After the investigation, data analysis, data statistic by computersoftware, the rule of syndrome differentiation about different states inUC came out.Result:1. In the two state in UC, we found that some syndromes are notobviously different, including the body of tongue (P=0.657),the characterof tongue (P=0.213),the vein under the tongue (P=0.195),the teeth printaround the tongue (P=0.201), anorexi (P=0.353), (P=0.755),stomachache(P=0.515),encopresis(P=0.336),dry stool(P=0.801),waist ache(P=0.730),weak on the knee (P=0.420), perspire when sleeping (0.353),pump in thestomach (P=0.367),tiredness (P=0.213),sluggish words (P=0.107),feelingcold (P=0.610), heat in the center of hand, foot and chest (P=0.709),dizziness (P=0.601), the position of pulse (P=0423)2. In the two state in UC, some syndromes are obviously different, including the color of tongue (P=0.027),fur color (P=0.026),fur nature(P=0.000),oily fur (P=0.000),diarrhea (P=0.000),bloody purulent stool (P=0.000), heat in anus (P=0.018),belching (0.035),the rate of pulse(P=0.009),theshape of pulse(P=0.042),the strength of pulse (P=0.001),the circumstance of pulse (P=0.031)3. In the two state of UC, there is a rule about the appearance ofdeficiency syndromes and Excess syndromes. The excess syndromes mostlyappear in the active state, and the deficiency syndromes mostly appearin the catabatic state. Deficiency syndromes combining with excesssyndromes can appear in both of the two states.Conclusion:1. There is a rule about the syndromes differentiation in both of twostates in UC. The deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality areaffecting the evolution of the disease.2. From some indifferent syndromes , we can make a Conclusion thatdeficiency in origin exist in both of two states, and the type of deficiencycan bedeficiency of stomach and spleen, insufficiency of yangabout kidney, insufficiency of the yin-blood, then we could provide areference for the treatment of this disease.3. The fur of tongue and the pulse have a significant difference betweentwo states. In the active state, the fur would mostly be yellow, thickand oily, the pulse would mostly be fast, large, smooth and solid; In thecatabatic state the fur would mostly be white, thin, and the pulse wouldmostly be slow, slender, weakness and emptiness.4. the excess syndromes occupy an main posftion in the active state, and the deficiency syndroms occupy an main position in the catabaticstate.
