Objective: To investigate the histocompatibility and degradation in bodies of human-hair keratinartificial nerve and to offer an ideal nervous transplanted material for repairing the defect of peripheralnerve. Methods: 54 Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups including an experiment groupand two control groups. The left tibial nerves of rats were removed to create a 10mm gaps. The gapswere connected with the human-hair keratin artificial nerve, and other two groups with the nerve of itsown(group B) or the homologous nerve (group C) respectively. The blood samples were taken at the 2,8 and 16 weeks after operation to detect IgA, IgM, IgG, C3, C4, T lymphocyte subgroup and Tlymphocyte transformation. On the same time, the tissue samples were taken and stained withHematoxylin-Eosion to observe and compare the local histological reaction. Results: All the wounds healed primarily. The local histological reaction was lower and theregeneration of tibial nerve was better in group A and group B. The immunological parameters of ratsfrom group A and group B had no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).There was significantdifference between group C and group A or group B (P<0.01).Conclusion: Human-hair keratin artificial nerve an ideal nervous transplanted material forrepairing the defect of peripheral nerve, which can guide nerve regeneration, and with goodhistocompatibility as well. It is an ideal nervous substitute in repairing injured peripheral nerve.
