Objective: To observe the therapeutic effects of "Wangyou prescription" in treatingdepressive patients with the syndromes of liver-Oi dynamic disorder and phlegm and stagnantblood, evaluate it objectively and try to discuss the possible mechanisms of the function.Subjects and Methods: All the patients came from the Xiamen Hospital of TCM, they allwere diagnosed as depression by CCMD-Ⅲand the sixth edition internal medicine of TCMdiagnostic criteria, and with the syndromes of Liver-Qi dynamic disorder and phlegm andstagnant blood of TCM. All the patients were divided into two groups randomly, 31 subjectswere served as observe group treated by "Wangyou prescription", the other 29 subjects wereserved as contrast group and treated by "fluoxetine", both of the two groups were treated for 6weeks as a period of treatment. To observe the change of symptoms, HAMD scores of bothgroups before and after the treated, and evaluated side effects by Rating Scale for Side Effects(SERS), then analysed them with statistic method.Results: There was significant difference between observe group and contrast group inHAMD scores (P<0.05) before and after therapy. There was not obviously disparity betweenobserve group and contrast group in the symptoms curative effects(P>0.05), as the analysis bystatistics. That mean the symptom curative effects of "Wangyou prescription" and"fluoxetine" were the same. But the side effects of the observe group were remarkable lowerthan that of the contrast group (P<0.05). Conclusions:1. "Wangyou prescription" can improve patients'clinical symptom obviously and improvepatients'living quality.2. The side effects of "Wangyou prescription" were remarkable lower than that of"fluoxetine" in the treatment.
