| Objective:By studying the expression of AE1/AE3,AE1,AE3,Ki-67 in lymphnode micrometastases of breast cancer patients,we may analyse the micrometastases pathology morphology characteristic and clinical significance and provide theory basis for the clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods:A total of 157 histologically negative axillary nodes from 44 breast cancer patients were immunohistochemically stained with monoclonal antibody AE1(low molecular weight cytokeratin),AE3(high molecular weight cytokeratin),AE1/AE3(cytokeratin pan)and Ki-67(nuclear antigen)for micrometastases. All patients were carried out a follow-up.Results:Micrometastases were observed in 9(8.9 percent)of 157 histologically negative axillary nodes:AE1/AE3 expression was detected 3 in 9,AE1 expression was detected 1 in 9, AE3 expression was detected 1 in 9,AE1/AE3 and AE1 repetitions expressions were detected 1 in 9,AE1/AE3,AE1,AE3 also expresses were detected lin 9.In addition, there was also cytokeratin positive expression in some isolated and dispersed sinusoid endothelial cell of lymphaticnode with micrometastases.Ki-67 expression was not detected in 9.The micrometastases is much located in the border of lymphatic sinusoid, single or several cells form the masses. There are statistics significances in the micrometastases expressions of different size primary tumor.None of the breast cancer patients with micrometastases died in last 3 years.Conclusion:1,There are possible micrometastases in the routine histologically negative axillary nodes in breast cancer patients.2,We extrapolate that AE1/AE3 is more sensitive in checking lymphnode micrometastases in breast cancer than AE1,AE3,but AE1,AE3,AE1/AE3 unions expressions more possibly have clinical significances.3,The prognosis of breast cancer patients with axillary lymphatic node micrometastases remains uncertain,.Further studies are necessary to assess the role of micrometastases. |
