Objective: Now with the improvement of people's living level, the morbidity of type 2 diabetes is increasing. As one of complications of it, many patients were brought about great pains by diabetes and the corresponding vascular disease. The aortic lesions in lower limbs may contribute to the ischemia and ulcer in foot, even lead to the lower limbs cut and severe mutilation. The incidence of occlusion of the lower extremity in diabetes is about four times than the non- diabetic. Osteoporosis, as another complication of diabetes is closely correlated with atherosclerosis, that a number of results have proved the common pathological mechanisms in them. The deficiency of blood circulation in lower limbs can result in the bone loss in hip. In this study ,we use DEXA and Color Doppler Ultrasound equipment to measure the bone mineral density (BMD) in lumbar vertebrate and hip, the changed lower limbs vascular disease in type 2 diabetic patients, then the data were analyzed. The result should provide method and treat diabetic osteoporosis and vascular complication .Subjects and Methods: This study consists of 140 subjects with both diabetes and lower limbs vascular disease (69 females and 71 males included). Age>45, the menopausal duration of female is over one year. The subjects were divided into four groups ( A: normal, B: low-grade, C: middle-grade, and D: severe grade). The BMD of spine(L2-L4) and dual femurs, color ultrasound measurement of the lower limbs were made to find out the severity of the lower extremity vascular disease .Results: 1 The BMD of lower limbs vascular disease is lower than non- vascular disease in type 2 diabetic patients. And the lower BMD, the worse atherosclerosis .2 Duration of diabetes, grades of severity of lower limbs , age, fasting blood glucose, post blood glucose , HBA1c ,urine A/C , cholesterol, LDL, menopause age, and serum PTH are negative with BMD. Serum HDL and E2 are positive with them.3 The duration of diabetes, age, fasting blood glucose, post blood glucose, HBA1c, urine A/C, cholesterol, LDL and serum PTH are positive with grades of severity of lower limbs , while E2 is negative with them .4 The common factors those affect BMD and lower extremity vascular disease are duration of diabetes , age , fasting and post glucose level, HBA1c, urine A/C, cholesterol, LDL, E2, and serum PTH .Conclusions: 1 Lower extremity vascular disease of diabetes are closely correlated with BMD ,especially in femur of type 2 diabetic patients. 2 The common factors those are related with BMD and lower extremity vascular disease of type 2 diabetes are age, glucose level, lipid, duration of diabetes, estradiol of female, and serum PTH.
