ObjectiveTo introduce the developmental coordination disorder questionnaire(DCDQ)-Chinese version into China, and to do the reliability and validitystudy. To do the research on comorbidity on developmental coordinationdisorder (DCD) and attention deficit hyperactive disorder(ADHD).MethodTwo hundred and eighteen students from normal kindergartens andprimary schools were assessed with the DCDQ to evaluate its reliabilityand validity. Sixty child outpatients with ADHD were evaluated byDCDQ in order to investigate DCD symptoms in the children withADHD.Result1. Theαcoefficient of the kindergarten's edition was 0.905, the test-retest reliability with a 2-week interval was 0.715(p<0.01); whiletheαcoefficient of the primary school's edition was 0.830, and thetest-retest reliability was 0.867(p<0.01). Factor analysis showed thatthere were four factors in all and they explained 64.38% in thekindergarten's edition; and there were three factors in all and theyexplained 57.29% in the primary school's edition.2. DCDQ score of children with ADHD was significantly lower thannormal children (P<0.05). Twenty percent of children with ADHD wereindicated as patients with the symptoms of DCD, 33.3% were suspectedhaving the symptoms of DCD. There was a high percentage of DCDsymptoms in all three types of ADHD, with 25% of theADHD-Predominantly Inattention type (ADHD-PI), 20% of theADHD-Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive type (ADHD-HI), and22.2% of the ADHD-eombined type (ADHD-C). There was nosignificant difference among the three ratios(P>0.05).ConclusionThese findings support the notion that the reliability and validity ofthe DCDQ was satisfactory and the DCDQ can be used as a screen tool inDCD. DCD may be the clinically meaningful symptoms in the childrenwith ADHD. The research implies that clinical professionals might needto take these factors into account when conducting neuropsychologicalassessment and designing treatment plan for the children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
