Object: In this study Color Doppler ultrasonography was used to observe the characteristics of atherosclerosis in lower artery in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM). The investigation defined correlation between the characteristics and cardiovascular risk factors, inflammation marker c-reactor protein and T2DM lower vasculopathy. It would provide a basic theory for lower vascular disease prevention in patients with T2DM.Method: 60 T2DM patients were divided into two groups(30 in group A without cardia-cerebrovascular complication; 30 in group B with cardia-cerebrovascular complication). 32 people in the control group received lower extremity vascular Doppler ultrasonography test. It including popliteal artery, femoral artery, anterior tibial artery, arteria tibialis posterior and dorsal pedis artery. Recorded the intimal-media thickness (IMT) value, plaque size, resonance, distribution and haemodynamics index of every subjects. And all the subjects were detailed questionnaire, physical examination, including height, weight and blood pressure, fasting blood adopted early in the morning, to test fasting glucose (GLU), cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), C-reactive protein (CRP).Result: There is no significant difference between the T2DM group and the controls in age, gender, BMI, TC, LDL, HDL. GLU, TG, CRP, IMT, plaque of lower extremity in diabetic patients were higher than the controls(P<0.05). The CRP, IMT and plaque incidence rate in group A are much lower than group B(P<0.05).The lower artery IMT have significant correlation with serum CRP in 60 T2DM patients(P<0.05), compare with the controls, the arteria cruralis, popliteal artery, arteria dorsalis pedis peak value flow rate cut down in the T2DM group(P<0.05).Conclusion:1. High-frequency ultrasound can detect vascular diabetic duration of the early stages of atherosclerosis. It appears with artery wall thickening and plaque.T2DM patients with arteriosclerosis, two-dimensional images of the performance of the main leg artery IMT- irregular thickening, Plaque formation, particularly the main artery distal small; Color Doppler showed femoral artery, popliteal artery, dorsalis pedis artery peak velocity and acceleration slowed down.2. CRP as an independent risk factor for other inflammatory markers, and the incidence of diabetes are directly related with the progress of the disease and CRP level gradually increased.3. CRP levels in patients with T2DM and lower extremity arteries IMT thickness significantly correlated, plasma CRP testing for the early detection of diabetic vascular complications have important clinical significance.
