Objective:To probe the clinical meaning of measuring the serum leptin concentrations in PCOS patientsMethods:Forty-one patients with PCOS and thirty-nine normal-menstrual -cycle control women were involved.Body height(BH),body mass(BM)waist circumference(WC),hip circumference(HC),LH,FSH,T,E2,and serum leptin concentrations were measured, mass index(BMI),waist to hip ratio(WHR)and LH/FSH were calculated in all these subjects during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle. The data were analyzed using SPSS 13.0.Results:The average serum leptin concentration in study group was 9.66±5.20 ng/mL and in control group was 4.824±2.77 ng/mL.The serum leptin was associated with BMI,T and LH/FSH.Conclusion:The serum leptin concentrations in subjects with PCOS were higher than that in the control ones and it indicated that leptin could take part in the pathological changes in the patients with PCOS.
