Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of weight losson anovulatory obese women.Methods: Sixty-six anovulatory obese women with body mass index (BMI)over 25kg/m~2 were treated with weight loss for three months by diet control,exercise and behavior tharepy. The patients were divided into three groupsaccording to the results of the treatments: group A (25 patients), who lost weightless than 5%; group B (21 patients), who lost weight greater than 5%; group C (20patients), who lost weight greater than 10%. BMI, menses, BBT, gonadotrophin(FSH, LH) , testosterone (T), fasting insulin were measured and compared in allpatients before and after weight loss.Results: There are no significantly differences of FSH, LH, LH/FSH in allpatients before and afer weight loss. T decreased significanly in group B. Fastinginsulin decreased significanly in group C. Nine subjects in group A achieved regularcycle, 3 had ovulation restored. Seven subjects in group B achieved regular cycle, 4had ovulation restored. Fifteen subjects in group C achieved regular cycle, 10 hadovulation restored, which had a significant difference compared to group A andB(p<0.05).Conclusions: Weight loss can improve menstruation status, ovulation andendocrine parameters, it should be the first therapeutic option for infertile obesewomen.
