3 driking water reservoirs that are representive of Guiyang were studied in the reseach, namely Aha, Baihua and Huaxi reservoirs, which had been sampled 4 times from March to December in 2006. 8 sample sites were choosed in all, 3 of which were located in Aha reservoir, 3 ones in Baihua reservoir and the latest 2 ones in Huaxi reservoir. A serial indexes had been studied in the 3 reservoirs, such as phytoplankton species, community structure, cell density, poisonous and harmful algaes, and the mensuration of water quality indices(WT,pH,DO,COD,TN,etc.).The result showed that 107 species of phytoplankton, belonging to 54 genera 29 families 18 orders 10 classes and 7 divisions, were identified from Aha reservoir. There were 145 species in Baihua reservoir, which belonged to 65 genera 33 families 20 orders 11 classes and 8 divisions. In addition, 142 species of phytoplankton, belonging to 56 genera 31 families 21 orders 11 classes and 8 divisions, were observed in Huaxi reservoir. Chlorophyta is dominant specie, ferior to Cyanophyta in Aha and Baihua reservoirs. And the dominant algae is Bacillariophyta in Huaxi reservoir and secondly Chlorophyta. The stinking algae and poisonous algae that will bring threat to healthy safty of drinking water were detected in 3 reservoirs. There were 33 species of stinking algaes in Aha reservoir, 49 species in Baihua reservoir, and 47 species in Huaxi reservoir,21 species which were in common. The poisonous algaes includeing Microcystis aeruginosa Kütz., Aphanizomenon flos-aqune(L.) Ralfs. and Anabaena flos-aguae (Lyngh.) Bréb., had occurred in Aha and Baihua reservoirs, even water flower of Aphanizomenon flos-aqune(L.) Ralfs. arised in Aha reservoir in March, 2006. And the poisonous algaes in the Huaxi reservoir were M.aeruginosa Kütz. and A.flos-aqune(L.) Ralfs. The quantities of poisonous algae in Huaxi reservoir were far less than two other reservoirs, which resulted from the water quality of the reservoir.Through investigation and evaluation in 3 reservoirs, the result indicated that water quality reflected different characters and condition in four periods. The physical-chemical indexes have been trending for eutrophication in Aha and Baihua reservoirs. Excessive nourishment had resulted in development of Phytoplankton, especially Cyanophyta and Chlorophyta in water bodies, which will bring serious threat to healthy safty of drinking water. Some of physical-chemical indexes of Huaxi reservoir were better than two other reservoirs, which belonged to the dystrophic-mesotrophic reservoir.According to investigations and researches of 3 drinking water reservoirs,the paper put forward to some measures and proposals about the prevention of the water resources and prepared the basic scientific data for the study of the drinking water reservoirs.
