Objective: To study on the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) associated with hypertension and N-terminal Pro-brain natriuretic peptide(NT-ProBNP). Methods: The polysomnography (PSG) parameters were analyzed in male patients in department of hypertension of people's hospital in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The blood presures, the levels of serum BNU and Cr, the levels of plasma NT-ProBNP were measured under peaceful fasting state in morning in 42 hypertensive patients, 82 mild-moderate OSAHS patients associated with hypertension and 45 severe OSAHS patients associated with hypertension grouped by apnea hypopnea index (AHI). Results: l)In hypertensive patients, mild-moderate OSAHS patients associated with hypertension and severe OSAHS patients associated with hypertension, body mass index(BMI) , abdomen circumference, diastolic blood pressure(DBP), AHI, nocturnal minimum arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) differ statistically (P<0. 05), plasma NT-ProBNP did not differ Statistically (P>0. 05);2)There was a positive correlation between the levels of plasma NT-ProBNP and the AHI in all the hypertension patients with or without OSAHS (r = 0.181, P<0.05). Conclusion: 1) The level of plasma NT-ProBNP in OSAHS patients associated with hypertension was higher than hypertensive patients, the level of plasma NT-ProBNP in severe OSAHS patients associated with hypertension was higher than mild-moderate OSAHS patients associated with hypertension, but there were no significant differences among three groups;2) There was a positive correlation between the levels of plasma NT-ProBNP and the AHI.
