Objective: To investigate the diagnostic value of the mRNA expression of heter- ogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein(hnRNP)A2/B1 in the peripheral blood of non- small cell lung cancer. And to discuss the effects of smoking on the expression of heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein(hnRNP)A2/B1 in non-small cell lung can- cer.Methods: peripheral blood and the pulmonary lesions samples of 57 patients inclu- deing three groups: patients with lung cancer in stage,patients with lung cancer inâ…¡-â…£stage and patients with benign lung desease which had been collected and dete- cted since 10, 2005 to 9, 2006.22 were included into smoking group,35 were in non- smoking group. mRNA of hnRNP A2/B1 in the peripheral blood and the pulmonary lesions samples of 20 patients with benign lung disease and 37 patients with lung cancer was extrated and detected by RT-PCR. mRNA expression of hnRNP A2/B1 was analyzed and contrasted among these groups.Results:There was no significant difference in the mRNA expression of hnRNP A2/ B1 between the peripheral blood and the cancer tissue in the patients of lung cancer (P>0.05). the expression of hnRNP A2/B1 in patients with NSCLC was markedly higher than that in patients with benign lung desease(P< 0.05). the expression of hnRNP A2/B1 in the smoking group was significantly higher than that in the non- smoking group(P<0.05).Conclution:It may be a valuable diagnosis way of lung cancer to detect hnRNP A2/ B1 mRNA in the peripheral blood. Smoking may be a high risk factor on the up-reg- ulation of hnRNP A2/B1 mRNA in lung cancer.
