Analysis Of Tuberculosis Epidemic Status And Its Preventive Measure In Dongguan City

Background: Tuberculosis concerned by globe public health is a chronic disease threatening the people's health. With the epidemic situation of globe tuberculosis increasing, to strengthen prevention and control for tuberculosis had become the whole world's public health study. Dongguan city received Tuberculosis Control Project of Global Fund since the cooperation between our government and international tissue.Objective: To investigate the epidemic situation trend and epidemiological characteristics of tuberculosis in Dongguan in the past 10 years (1997~2006), evaluate the efficacy of control measures and provide scientific basis, Dongguan Tuberculosis Control Programmer was carried out.Methods: Data of tuberculosis from 1997 to 2006 in Dongguan district were analyzed by the retrospective investigation methodology.Results: There were about 27299 suspect tuberculosis cases registered in our hospital from 1997 to 2006. The testing rate of sputum in the new incidence cases was 39.10%. The positive rate for tuberculosis bacteria was 37.10% (3955/10664). There were 3229 cases and 726 cases in newly incidence cases and relapse cases respectively. Average of 91.50% and 98.20% of the new positive sputum smear patients showed negative sputum smear test at 2 and 3 months at the end of months after the treatment, respectively, and 71.49% and 87.46% for the relapse positive sputum smear patients respectively. Average of cure rate were 97.72% and 87.16% in newly positive sputum smear patients and relapse positive sputum smear patient, respectively. The new registered rate of active tuberculosis and newly smear positive tuberculosis were increasing from 5.76/100000 and 2.17/100000 to 39.38/100000 and 33.61/100000 from 1997 to 2006. These results suggested that globe fund had a high detecting rate and high cure rate after 10 years'Tuberculosis Control Project of Global Fund.Conclusion: Tuberculosis Control Project of Global Fund can successfully control the prevalence of tuberculosis and improve the people's health and get greatness social and economical benefit.
