| Objective To investigate and analyze the prevalence of stroke and incidence of post-stroke vascular dementia between Uygur and Han nationalities(≥50 years) in Xinjiang . Provide foundation for prevention of stroke and vascular dementia. Methods A sample of 4688 Uygur and 3596 Han nationalities(≥50 years) live in Northern , Southern and Eastern Xinjiang ,Urumqi city as well as Changji city were investigated with the multi-stage, stratified, random ,cluster sample method by two-staged survey. In the first stage ,a screening to the subjects was performed by trained interviews to conduct general questionnaire and cognitive test(MMSE). On the second stage, Neurologists examined all screened subjects to collect family history and to finish general and neurological examination as well as neuropsychological testing. VD was diagnosed by the neurologists. Result The general prevalence of stroke in xinjiang was 8.4%(95%CI:7.8%~9.0%), standardized prevalence was 7.9%(95%CI:7.3%~8.5%),male general prevalence of stroke was8.9%(95%CI:8.0%~9.8%), standardized prevalence was 8.2% ( 95%CI:7.3%~9.1% ), female general prevalence of stroke was8.0%(95%CI:7.2%~8.8%), standardized prevalence was 7.8%(95%CI:7.0%~8.6%),there was no statistics difference between man and woman(P>0.05);Uygur nationality stroke prevalence was10.0% ( 95%CI:9.1%~10.9% ) , standardized prevalence was9.8%(95%CI:8.9%~10.7%),Han nationality stroke prevalence was 6.4%(95%CI:5.6%~7.2%), standardized prevalence was 5.9%(95%CI:5.1%~6.7%), Uygur was higher than Han(P<0.05).The general incidence of post-stroke vascular dementia was 12.8% in sample people , male incidence was10.3%,female incidence was 15.2%(P>0.05), Uygur and Han's incidence were 11.6% and 15.2%(P>0.05), Incidence of post-stroke vascular dementia was 8.3%, 14.6% in male and female Uygur people, woman was higher than man(P<0.05). Han nationality incidence was 14.2%, 16.4% in man and woman(P>0.05) , Han nationality male incidence aged 70 or above was higher than Uygur nationality (P<0.05), there was no difference between man and woman in others age(P>0.05), Uygur female incidence of post-stroke vascular dementia had statistic different in three age(P<0.05),incidence increased with age advancing. Conclusion There was significance difference in prevalence of stroke between Uygur and Han nationalities, Uygur was higher than han . There was no difference in incidence of post-stroke vascular dementia between man and women ,so was Uygur and Han nationalities, But Uygur female incidence was higher than male obviously, and increased with age advancing. |
