| Objective To analyze the clinical effect of intensity modulated radiotherapy for metastatic spinal tumor. Methods From February 2005 to September 2007, 12 patients with metastatic spinal tumor who had treated with intensity modulated radiotherapy.The prescribe dose from 28Gy~48Gy,mean dose was 37.5 Gy ,median dose was 40 Gy.Enhancing the nursing care of patients during radiotherapy. Results Pain relief rate is 100%。After radiotherapy,the patients who complicated with nerve function impairment recovered to different extent. No one had radiation-induced injury ,such as radiation myelitis, radiation pneumonitis,etc. Until March 2008,3 cases survived 3 moths,1 cases survived 10 moths,1 cases survived 17 moths, 1 cases survived 25 moths and 6 cases survived 39 moths. The local contorl rate in 1,2 and 3years after treatment were 87.5%,75%,40%,respectively. The overall survival rate in 1,2 and 3years after treatment were 88.9%,77.8%,66.7%. Conclusions Intensity modulated radiotherapy is a safe and effective treatment method for spinal metastatic tumor, and is worth spreading in clinic. |
