Objective:1) To evaluate the prevalence of nosocomial infection in the intensive care unit at our hospital.2) To evaluate the distribution of pathogens of nosocomial infection in ICU,and offer evidence for clinical diagnosis and treatment.3) To rationally use antibiotics in ICU,and degrade generation of bacterial drug resistance and elevate treated level of infection.4) To offer evidence for the prevention of nosocomial infection and individual protection of staff in ICU.Methods:The 2793 medical record out ICU were retrospectively analysed during J an 2004~Dec 2006.The 193 NI patients were consistented with diagnostic criteria of NI and some cases were eliminated referring to eliminated criteria. Then the case were investigated for the 193 NI patients to fill in unity questionnaire and registrated schedule of NI.The investigated contented mainly include gender, age, day in hospital, date of infection, location of infection, predisposing factor, virulence operation, information of using antibiotics, pathogenic bacterium and drug sensitivity. Results:The average the prevalence of NI was 17.64%during 2004~2006. The major infected sites of NI were respiratory tract(73.91%),bloodstream infections (6.74%),cavum pleurae(6.30%) abdominal cavity(6.09%),oprated cut(3.26%),and urinary trac t(2.61%).The difference in major pathogens of infections in different sites reached statistical significance. For respiratory tract, cavum pleurae, abdominal cavity, and bloodstream infections, bacteria were the most common pat hogens.Fungi were the most fre-quent isolate in urine.Mixed infection proportion was 49.22%.The most common pathogens of NI were Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Klebsiella pneumoniae,Escherichia Coli, Staphylococcus aureus,Acinetobacter baumannii, and Enterobacter cloacae. Conclusions: The prevalence of nosocomial infection in the intensive care unit was constantly high. The prevention and cure of NI should be strengthen in order to degrade total level of nosocomial infection in ICU.The major infected sites of NI in ICU was respiratory tract, so the protection of air spreading should be strengthen. The medical staff in ICU decrease nosocomial infection themselves through intensing protection of respiratory tract. The most common pathogens of NI in ICU were different in different infection sites. The pathogens were complicated and most strains were antibiotics resistant. The protection of nosocomial infection was practiced to the difference of infected sites and bacteria. The control of nosocomial infection was directional specific link of NI in ICU.To understand the changes of pathogens guide rational use of antibiotics in ICU,so degrade generation of bacterial drug resistance. So it was important to establish NI control and to understand the changes of pathogens so as to prevent the infection.
