| Objective To study the clinical significance of facial nerve monitoring during acoustic neuroma operation in the aspect of protection. Methods Based on retrospective summary, all 24 patients were divided into the IFNM group (12 cases) and the non-IFNM group (12 cases). Facial nerve function (FNF) assessed by a modified House-Brackmann grading (H-B) before the operation, two weeks after the operation was compared between the two groups. At the same time, the ratio of facial nerve preservation was compared between the two groups. Results To analyze the two groups'FNF data of before and after two weeks operation, there was no difference in the FNF between both two groups before operation, and there was difference in the FNF between both two groups after two weeks operation. The ratio of facial nerve preservation of the non-IFNM group is 66.7%,and it is 91.7% in the group of the IFNM. Conclusion Facial nerve protection could be significantly increased by IFNM. Life quality is improved by IFNM in the patients with acoustic neuroma. |
