Objective: Cataract is the top causes of blindness in the world, now about 20 million patients are suffered blindness because of cataract all over the world. Both the incidence and development of cataract, with the variety of biochemical changes within lens: just as lipid peroxidation accelerated, aldose reductase activity increased, electrolyte imbalance and polymer lens protein structure and nature of change, and so on. Laminin and collagenⅣbasement membrane is the main component, the normal lens capsule is mainly composed of laminin (Ln) and collagenⅣ, and fibronectin (Fn) presents in the embryonic period. They all plays an important role in the cell growth, differentiation and proliferation of the lens epithelial. This study was to investigate the expression and distribution of laminin and fibronectin in a transparent lens,all kinds of epithelial cells of lens and the former capsule , and to explore the important role of this two proteins in the incidence of cataract.Methods: the 67 patients(cases) which received operation,cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation were pathology diagnosed as cataract in the 2006.9 to 2007.8 in our hospital. Include 28 cases of elderly cortical cataract, the average age is 64 years (46-78); 12 cases of Senile nuclear cataract, the average age is 75 years (65-88); 8 cases of After the capsule under senile cataract, the average age is 55 years (47-64); 8 cases of Diabetic cataract, the average age is 34 years (21-43); 4 cases of traumatic cataract, the average age is 20 years (8-35);4 cases of congenital cataracts, the average age is 5 years (1-11) ; The normal group contains 2 cases of patient which died of accident, 1 case of len subluxation congenital, the average age is 24 years. Using indirect immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry to detect the expression of Ln and Fn in tissues of diameter of 6mm lens capsule membrane which taken from lens capsule membrane during the operation.Results:1. the positive expression of Normal epithelial cells of Ln and Fn is brown, the positive rate of Ln is 100%, 61.9% of the patients express Fn , some capsule express the both.2.the difference of Ln and Fn are statistically significant between normal and cortex,the cortical group and the trauma group,normal group and traumatic (P <0.05), other groups had no statistically significant.Conclusion: Ln is the main component of the membrane of patients with cataract lens capsule and sometimes Fn also express. These extracellular matrix components may play a role in cataract lens epithelial cells during the migration and proliferation. Ln and Fn highly express in the cortex of the group and the group of traumatic, it shows that the two proteins are closely related to the formation of cortical and traumatic cataract。...
