Objective: In order to determine the influence of bFGF and PDGF on the biological characteristics of osteoblasts and periodontal ligament cells, the authors investigated the influence of bFGF and PDGF on the migration and expression of protein related to mineralization of osteoblasts and periodontal ligament fibroblasts. Methods: The fourth passages of osteoblasts and periodontal ligament fibroblast were obtained and the wounding models in vitro of them were founded. The cells were cultured in mediums with bFGF and PDGF or not. Their migration was observed and measuered. The ALP and Col-I of these two kinds of cells cultured were evaluated. Results: The result showed that osteoblasts migrated faster than fibroblasts in common culture medium without bFGF and PDGF and the periodontal ligament fibroblasts in culture medium with bFGF(10)å’ŒPDGF ( 40 ) had higher migration rate than other groups. The Col-I expression and ALP activity of osteoblasts were inhibited by bFGF and PDGF.Conclusion: It is concluded that bFGF and PDGF could accelerate periodontal fibroblasts'migration and it had synergistic function which combined bFGF(10)and PDGF(40).
