We mix melittin with Scutellaria, which focused on the prospects in the treatment of MRSA. The melittin used in the dissertation was isolated from honeybee worker venom at Teaching Apiary of Bee Science College in Fujian Agriculture and Forest University. The separated component was approved by Chromatography Electrophorsis and HPLC to be atelectrophoretic purification.The results showed that Staphylococcus aureus are highly sensitive to Vancomycin in the the 16 kinds of antibiotics, and 9 kinds of them has antibiotic resistance. This is MRSA. Through the 13 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine on MRSA inhibiting activity screening, the inhibition zone of alcohol extraction of Scutellaria is 22 mm. The ability of Scutellaria is the strongest to MRSA. Therefore, we Choose alcohol extraction of Scutellaria as compatible with Melittin. And we comfirm that MIC of alcohol extraction of Scutellaria is 3.1 mg/ml. The results as follows:The in vitro experiments showed that the mixture with Scutellaria and melittin is more effective than Vancomycin to MRSA. In vitro experiments showed that the compand maximum bacteriostatic ring diameter to MRSA is 38 mm, the minimum bacteriostatic ring diameter is 25 mm, and the diameter of the bacteriostatic ring Vancomycin on MRSA only is 23 mm.In vivo experiments ,through a formal standard infection through acute toxicity test, we are determined using 10~6 concentration MRSA as Standard bacterial infection. The results showed that to liver of mice, group D (medium-doses of melittin and high-dose extract of Scutellaria) are 65.24±6.58 mg/g, while Vancomycin is 59.11±6.12 mg/g, and the difference is significant. Spleen and thymus in mice, group D is 8.29±1.25 mg/g and 2.87±0.61 mg/g. Vancomycin group is 6.30±1.36 mg/g and 2.03±0.59 mg/g. So it is significant difference between them. The mixture have a very good therapeutic effect to the infection caused by MRSA,. The mixture can improve the survival rate of mice, and which reached 86.7%.The survival of the group injected Vancomycin is only 66.7%.
